1 Dormant forage can be highly variable in quality. Cool season perennials found in the intermountain west tend to have higher quality and can be supplemented similar to corn stalks.
2 24% protein or higher should be used when the recommended feeding rate is 2 lbs. or less.
3 Feeding rates assume average quality hay or haylage (10% CP, 54% TDN).
For lower quality forage add one pound of supplement to the recommendation, for higher quality forage subtract one pound.
Cattle requirements for gain and intake estimates based on NRC 1996 for medium frame steers and heifers receiving an ionophore. Large frame, implanted steers and heifers and cattle in thin (low body) condition are expected to gain 0.5 lbs. per day more in the same scenario. Bulls fed 20% more than recommended are expected to gain up to 1.0 lbs. per day more in the same scenario.
Feeding recommendations based on unlimited forage availabiility.
Refer to feed product label for specific, detailed feeding directions.
Cargill does not warrant performance estimates shown because actual results are dependent on management, health, cattle condition, weather, markets and other factors. Gain
estimates are based on NRC energy requirements and independent research. Variation is expected.
