Feeding Instructions
- Your horse’s ideal feed rate depends on body weight, activity level, and forage intake.
- If your horse has no dental problems, feed clean, good quality hay at the rate of 1.0 to 1.75 lb (kg) of hay per 100 lb (kg) of bodyweight per day or the pasture equivalent.
- For horses who cannot consume roughage properly, feed ProForce Senior at a rate of 1.1 – 1.8% of bodyweight per day, in replacement of roughage.
- To dial in the right amount, start with the Horse Feed Calculator below. It generates a personalized daily ration (lbs/day) based on your inputs, giving you a practical baseline to fine‑tune.
- Monitor body condition weekly and adjust in small increments as needed.
- Divide the recommended feeding level into two or more equally spaced feedings per day.
- Feed alongside good‑quality forage and offer fresh water.
- When changing diets, transition gradually over 5–7 days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Elizabeth from Amazing product, couldn’t have rehabbed my rescue Belgian draft horse as quickly as I did without it I started using Nutrena ProForce Senior for my Saddlebred and was already impressed with how well it helped him maintain condition, so I decided to try it for my recently adopted 22-year-old Belgian draft horse who came to me severely underweight, with coat infections, and very shut down mentally. Within about 4 weeks, the change was obvious. He began putting on weight steadily, his coat infections cleared up, and his overall energy and attitude improved significantly. He went from dull and withdrawn to brighter, more engaged, and clearly feeling better in himself. The palatability has been great for both horses, and it’s been easy to keep consistent weight gain without digestive upset. I can’t recommend Nutrena ProForce Senior enough for older or hard-keeping horses. It has made a visible difference in both condition and quality of life for mine.
